Estimated take-home pay
How take-home pay is estimated
The tool starts with annual gross pay and subtracts an approximation of federal income tax and FICA taxes: Social Security and Medicare. It then divides annual net pay by the number of paychecks you choose.
The estimate uses a standard deduction and simplified 2025 federal brackets. The short formula is annual net = annual gross − federal tax − FICA.
What this estimate does not include
Exact state and local withholding is not calculated. The estimate also leaves out W-4 adjustments, dependents, tax credits, health insurance, 401(k) contributions, HSA or FSA contributions, garnishments, bonuses and other employer deductions.
Use the result as a first reference when comparing offers. Check your W-4 and employer documents for your actual paycheck.
